This weekend's concerts

Although it may be pouring rain in Buffalo right now, this weekend is supposed to be nice for the two big concerts I've been waiting for this summer. Today I will give you a preview of the two concerts and maybe even convince some of you to make it out.

The first is right in the city, Flogging Molly with Badfish at the Harbour on Sunday. Flogging Molly is one of the biggest celtic rock bands out there, and I've been told is always a great concert. The Los Angeles based band just released their 5th studio album, Speed of Darkness, in May. The opening band is Banfish, a tribute band of Sublime. Some even say they play the songs better than Sublime. The members of the band are also in a non-tribute band called Scotty Don't. Tickets for the show are $10 ahead of time, and $20 at the door.

The second concert is the day after at the Artpark. Thanks to a friend, I have gotten a chance to see the Decemberists at Artpark at 7pm. A folk based band, they released their 6th album The King is Dead earilier this year. It takes more of a country approach that some of the previous albums they have made. Tickets are $58 or $38 depending on where your seats are. No lawn seating is available for this show.
